👀 Brand Mention Tracker

Have you ever wanted to stay up to date with what your users are saying about your company or service? Or perhaps you want to keep an eye on your competitors? If so, these templates are exactly what you need.

The Brand Tracker Templates help you track daily mentions of a specified brand and send a report directly to your inbox every day at 9 AM (fully customizable). These two templates enable brand monitoring across two popular platforms: YouTube and Hacker News.

Prerequisites

YouTube Data API Key
1. Set Up Google Cloud Project or Login if you already have one:
  - Go to Google Cloud Console
  - Create a new project.
  - Navigate to API & Services > Library and search for "YouTube Data API v3". Or just use this link.
  - Click "Enable" to activate the API for your project.
2. Obtain Google API Credentials:
  - Go to API & Services > Credentials.
  - Click Create Credentials and select API Key.
  - Copy the generated key.
  - In BuildShip, add a new secret key for the generated key.
Hacker News - No API key required ✅
OpenAI API Key - You can get it by going to platform.openai.com

✍️ How to Use

This template provides two workflows: one for monitoring mentions on YouTube and another for monitoring mentions on Hacker News. Below is the setup process for both:

YouTube

The YouTube version of the template allows you to track mentions of a brand in either the title or description of YouTube videos.

Step 1: Configure Schedule

The workflow uses the custom schedule cron trigger and is set to run daily at 8 AM UTC. You can easily adjust the workflow to run on any schedule you want by editing the timezone and schedule options.

Step 2: Add Your YouTube API Key

You need to select or add your YouTube API key in the YouTube Mentions node.

Step 3: Add Your OpenAI API Key

You need to select or add your OpenAI API key in the Text Generator node.

Step 4: Authenticate the Gmail Send Email Node

Login with or select the gmail account you want to use for emails.
Enter the email address you want to send the daily mentions report to.

Step 4: Test 🧪

All the setup is now complete, and you're ready to run your YouTube mentions tracker workflow. Simply enter the brand you want to track.

Hacker News

The Hacker News version of the template allows you to track mentions of a brand in the title, description, or comments of a post.

Most of the setup steps are similar to the YouTube version, so we'll just reference them here:
